two sundays left.

This past week, I’ve given enough pats on both my shoulders, due to the fact that I had checked so many things off the checklist. The school holidays was really a God-sent because that gave me ample time to settle whatever I haven’t had the time to settle during the school term. Let me list down what we had accomplished:

Pasting of berkat stickers

I dragged my two youngest sisters to K’s place to paste the stickers on the bare berkat boxes. We had placed our berkat boxes at his place before Hari Raya because they had more than enough space to house 5 gigantic boxes (and my OCD parents couldn’t stand to see the boxes stacked up in our living room, heh). This ‘sticky business’ went on for two Sundays. Remind me never to go through this process again because my neck and back ached nauzubillah.

My future SIL, who works at Cotton On, has always been the one buying loots from Cotton On and Typo for me. So when I realised that we had kinda overlooked the moneybox issue, I ‘activated’ her to buy these gorgeous babies for me.

50% staff discount, of which I approve. But if you realise, the crate needed some makeover to be done to ensure that none of the duit sumbang falls out through the slits. So my mum and I purchased flowery curtain cloth at Joo Chiat for $4.30 per metre. This was the end result….

Bedroom furniture at my ‘new place’

Just a bit of background information, I will be moving over to K’s place after the wedding as my future FIL has graciously given up the master bedroom for us. At my current house, my two youngest sisters are already planning which posters to paste on my bedroom walls so for him to move in here is a no-go, haha.

So for the past two months K and I have been surveying bedroom furnitures (mainly at Ikea because I love Ikea like crazy). Ever since his mum passed away, the master bedroom needed major sprucing up so since I am moving in, why not now? But dengan kuasa Allah, I was bloghopping and stumbled upon Amalina’s post on her sister selling their King-sized bed frame! It was still in mint condition and Amalina’s sister had set such an affordable price. Just like that, in the same night I had read her post, I have a new bed, guys!

Amalina had kindly sent me these photos, which I then sent to K who immediately gave the green light upon hearing that it’s king-sized. Nak jadi king la tu.

Yesterday Amalina’s BIL had the bed frame delivered to K’s house and I couldn’t thank him enough. He was thorough in explaining the bed assembly instructions to K and assured us that if K had any problems in assembling the bed, we can always give him a call and he’ll drop by. You see, such good Samaritans hard to find.

Buying of mattress, wardrobe and dressing table

Right after I had confirmed with Amalina regarding the bed, I immediately went to Forty Two to look for the perfect mattress! It was not long before I fell in love with a mattress from Empire Grandeur, which was 2.5 inches higher than the other mattresses featured on the online store. Purchasing the mattress was hassle-free and Forty Two provided free delivery with minimum purchase of $300.

After buying the mattress online, K also gave me the green light to purchase the wardrobes (we needed two wardrobes because the amount of clothes we both have are horrendous) and dressing table. I have been surveying Furniture Mart for quite some time now so there was no doubt that my wardrobes and dressing table would be from them. Once again, transaction was hassle-free and they only accept COD, which I dont mind at all. They had free delivery and the icing on the cake was the tv bench which came with the dressing table. Yay to great deals!

Bedsheets and quilt

Okay so now that our room already has a bed, mattress, wardrobes and dressing table, what else do I need?

Bedsheets la, of course.

My favourite online store to hunt for these is obviously Lazada and they are currently having this Xmas sale. I happy, you know. Purchased a bedsheet and a quilt for only $158 (which I find is really reasonably-priced since my mum bought her Queen-sized bedsheet and quilt for $180 at Metro) and they have free delivery as well. It should arrive the same time as the mattress and the rest of the furniture. Perfect.

We spent a total of $1586 buying the bed frame, mattress, bedsheets, quilt, wardrobes and dressing table + tv bench. We are elated because that was the budget we had set for beautifying our ‘new room’.

Just a disclaimer before I end my post, expenditure has always have and forever will be a sensitive issue and some people might judge a person’s character by the amount spent. I hope after reading this, you guys wont feel that we are a cheapo-couple because from the bottom of our hearts, we are not hahaha. We just want a cosy room to be called ours for the time being, while we save up for the renovation cost for our own home (which we have not bought but will do so in a few years time) in the future.

Oh by the way, I am not queen-control hor haha. I am the one settling the furniture decisions etc right now because I am at home enjoying my holidays while he is working without any holidays nyehehehe.

one, two, buckle my shoe.

I have never given my wedding shoes any thought actually. If possible I would prefer to wear my Minnetonka shoes because comfort is key. But then…… I wont get into how my mother and sisters kept yapping away about how it would be nice for me to look tall yada, yada, yada.

My wedding shoes criteria:

1) Must not have high heels.
2) At least have a little bit of bling.
3) Cost less than $100.

Seem quite straightforward, right? But noooooo it wasnt easy at all. Most shoes that I had come across had either the perfect amount of bling but were too high for me or were of perfect height but didnt have that much bling.

So one Sunday evening, after having late dinner with K at Far East Plaza, we walked past Anna Nucci and on impulse, went in to take a look at their shoes. Apparently Anna Nucci has two stores there, just a shop apart of each other – one selling the normal collection while the other has the wedding collection.

Aunty (the sales supervisor who’s in her mid 50s) inmediately came up to me and asked if there’s was anything in particular I was looking for. As she spoke, I was holding a pair of gold blinged wedges which K quipped was a bit too high for me. Without wasting any time, Aunty took another pair of wedges in the exact same design but was ‘shorter’ (whats the antonym for high? Short eh?).

Tried it on, fit perfectly and it was so comfortable, I was beyond pleased! It met all of the criteria I had initially set and I left the shop a happy camper. One item checked off the wedding list!

Then again, I might just bring my Minnetonka to slip into in the midst of the wedding, since everyone else would be too preoccupied to notice my footwear :p

jun, june, juni.

So what’s up y’all?

Late last month, I was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Yup, come on, say it with me: hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh.

So I was hospitalised. It all happened really fast. Initially I thought it was just a pimple at my underarm but when it grew as big as a marble, I immediately knew it wasn’t just a pimple. Headed to the polyclinic on a Saturday, was referred to Jurong Medical Centre and then further referred to Alexandra Hospital, where they admitted me and scheduled me for an operation on the very same day. By then, the lump at my underarm was already as big as a pingpong ball.

Now, three weeks later, I am still recuperating, still going for dressing change twice a week and am currently dying of not being able to have any seafood. But hey, better now than going through it later in the year when we’re busy with the wedding.

Moving on to happier news, we have already booked our wedding venue! We can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief because that meant that we can now proceed in ordering our wedding invitations. However, that also meant that….

I really am glad that we had secured most of the major bookings such as bridal, decor, photography, videography and photobooth in June last year because that enabled us to focus only on the smaller and important details such as venue (this one no choice la since we can only book six months before wedding, heh) and wedding favours. And may I add that we have ordered our wedding favours too!

That, I will save for another entry 🙂

ImageI got this from a friend who saw this at her void deck this afternoon. I find it really sweet of the couple to do this, although they didn’t need to 😊

But this got me thinking for a while.

Are most Singaporeans racist now, to the extent that newlyweds have to apologise in advance for the noise made on their wedding day? I really hope not (Heather Chua and Amy Cheong diam eh haha).

of love and appreciation.

A few weeks back, I finally got engaged. It was such a simple affair – just his family and mine. Above all, I thank Allah SWT for having such wonderful parents who insisted that there need not be any gifts exchange, apart from the ring and the watch. But him being him, he had enlisted his cousin’s help in delivering a bouquet of roses and a love letter to me! Paiseh okay, but I love the fact that he had put so much thought into this since we don’t celebrate anniversaries so this is extra special.

I love you, K 🙂

BTBs who are still scouring for vendors for your once-in-a-lifetime wedding, please do read Farhana’s latest entry.

I know some might say, “Yek eleh dekni! Orang lain punya wedding apa…. Kenapa emo sangat?!” But I have always been an emotional person. I put myself in other people’s shoes without any qualms, and sadly today, my heart is with the couple who was affected by the missing vendor on their wedding day.

I told my other half about this and he was in disbelief that at this modern age and time, people are still going around cheating unsuspecting victims who place their trust in them. To quote my other half’s words….

….”If this happened to us, I akan nangis dulu. Lepas tu baru I cari penipu tu sampai ke lubang cacing. Pergi rumah dia, simbah cat and darah babi.”

I hope the couple is feeling wee bit better now as compared to this morning. Ada hikmah di sebalik ni semua, In Shaa Allah.

Korang, please be careful. As we speak, I am texting Raihan and it hurts to say that the bride is really not going to have her wedding today.

Like what I told Raihan and my close friends, “Orang ni semua tk fikir ke that one fine day, their anak cucu cicit is gonna get married?!”

Now I’m gonna cry cos I really, really feel for the couple.

10 ‘O’

The past weekend, my family had two weddings to attend. So my eyes macam a pair of hawk, taking mental notes of the decor, the food and the likes! I didn’t take pictures because paiseh ah hahah.

BTBs who are planning to choose Doulath or have already chosen Doulath as their caterer, may I congratulate you babes for making a superb choice? Their food was delicious tahap maksima – even my mother, whose tastebuds is hard to please, kept raving about the food! I was very, very pleased with their sambal goreng pengantin and their dalcha!

Yay to good food!

Okay dah, tu aje hehe.

rockpixs rocks.

Assalammualaikum, BTBs! Am I going to get flak for not updating as regularly as before? I truly apologise for my long absence, although I had previously pointed out that I won’t abandon my blog anymore. After my last blog entry in July, I was so swamped with various commitments and I had no choice but to have a short hiatus from the BTB world.

In Shaa Allah, now I will be back for a while because I have settled most of the work needed by the school (for now) and am thoroughly pleased to share with you about a particular vendor that I had come across while scouring for photobooth services for the upcoming Teachers’ Day Dinner!

Presenting…. Rockpixs Studio-X!

Let me show you some of their work:

On top of the stunning pictures, I was (and still am) very impressed with how prompt their replies were! I contacted Alaina this morning to enquire if Rockpixs was still available during our Teachers’ Day Dinner come September and she replied with such an upbeat disposition, I was sold. There is nothing more I would want than to work with people with good customer service!

Their package includes:

– Customise layout and selection – May include own theme/logo

– Unlimited shoots and prints with 4R Epson glossy paper

– Fun and creative props provided for use at the event

– Two on-site personnel to assist the guests

– Envelopes provided

– CD-R with all the photos taken during the event will be given

– Photos will also be uploaded on Facebook to allow easy viewing and downloads

In addition, their services are reasonably-priced as well. We are allowed to choose the number of poses and the wordings we would like for each layout, by the way. Yay!

If anyone is interested in their quotation, feel free to ask me 🙂
